Chritmas

Christmas is already behind us, our bellies stuffed with delicious food, gifts unwrapped… and hopefully, Jesus welcomed in each of our hearts! We also have some news from across the ocean for you! Carley, Teresa and Maggie shared their family homes’ traditions with us:

Carley:

On Christmas Eve, we always go to church in the evening and then I go to my grandma and grandpa’s house. At my grandparent’s house, we take family photos and eat a huge meal. The meal consist of pasta and salad. Before this meal we have snacks such as cheese dip, shrimp and little cookies. On Christmas Day, my uncle and my other grandparents come over and we open presents, then we have another meal that consists of ham, shrimp, salad and cocked potatoes. Also every Christmas, my dad hides the pickle ornament. My siblings and I try to find it and whoever finds it first, gets a gift. Then we all play board games as a family for the rest of the day.

Teresa:

Every Christmas my grandma makes her homemade cinnamon rolls for us to eat Christmas Day! They are amazing and we only get them once a year. Then Christmas Day we open our presents, go to church and then my grandma comes over for a big lunch. After that we watch movies for the rest of the day!!

Maggie:

For Christmas, we have traditions on both Christmas Eve and Christmas. My sisters and I exchange gifts on Christmas Eve and we also receive pajamas from my parents that night. This year we had to miss church due to illnesses in my family, but that is also a tradition. This Christmas Eve, we had soup for dinner and then stayed up late playing games. On Christmas, we unwrap gifts, eat brunch, and spend the day together. For dinner, we are Italian food (pasta, salad, and bruschetta). Christmas at my house means spending a lot of quality time with family.

PS: We had a haiku (a Japanese poem) competition. My dad won!
