Day Camp 2016: Friday

Sophie Bittner
Well, we just ended the fifth day of Day Camp and everything keeps building up for tomorrow. My kids are like little lights that Jesus and God have turned on through me; and seeing them shine bright reminds me that I am fulfilling a purpose. A grand purpose. Probably one too big for me to understand. But as long as I am still guided by the hand of God to lift these amazing, talented, brave, sweet kids up closer to Him. I will understand that I am doing what is right. My bond with these outstanding students has grown more than I would have ever imagined. My hugs have grown tighter, my voice has become sweeter, my eyes have grown softer, and my love has rooted deeper. Tomorrow will be rough but right now I will celebrate today. Today was amazing. My class has learned many new songs and games and I was taught polish Uno. They have learned about themselves, careers, emotions, and their peers. Gosh I love them, their energy, their smiles, their laughs, their jokes, their hearts… they are all so amazing. Nothing is better than the warming sound of your name being called because one of Jesus’ little lights wants to spend time with you. That is when you know you are doing something right and their love is more than I could ever ask for. I am so happy to see God working with everyone and bringing everyone together. It truly is something special. And the best part is that I get to be one of the VERY few people to witness that. It’s unworldly.
