Day Camp 2015: Wednesday

Halfway through Day Camp – how can that be possible? Day 3 is when everything started to click, according to the mission team. Confidence is up, relationships between teachers, counselors, and kids are growing, and fun is everywhere you look!
We all enjoyed some special time with our host families last night. Some went to Cieszyn, a town about 30 minutes from Jastrzebie. It was so fun to hear all of the stories this morning.
Nick and Nathan had grilled sausages at their hosts’ home; Nick managed to eat 3 ½ – each one the size of a bratwurst! Others went to different restaurants in Cieszyn – some had pizza, some had Chicken Kiev, and our group had Pierogies! Delicious!
Some groups walked into the Czech Republic; one more country on our lists of “Places I Have Been”. It rained some but with the heat we have had this week, it felt wonderful!
Some of the kids used the geo-caching knowledge that Jim taught us in the past few days to make some discoveries in Cieszyn!
Matt and Gwen stayed home with their host family and taught them how to make salsa. Matt enjoyed a quick trip to the grocery store in search of peppers and cilantro. What a great adventure!
Day Camp Day #3 is half over at this point. Language games with our classes all morning. We are learning more and more about the kids and the culture. Jim and Mary talked about food today. They took a poll of the kids. How many have eaten at McDonald’s? Two out of ten. How many have gardens in their backyard? Ten out of ten! 
The mission team is getting very comfortable with their students and counselors. Theresa said it is obvious how much the trust level is growing each day. Today in our devotion time, we talked about how important relationships are – the relationship between each of us, but most importantly, our relationship with Jesus Christ. Our prayer is that each of these relationships continues to grow over the next few days.
